The Research Assistant is mainly responsible for designing and constructing experimental setups related to the applied fields of renewable energy systems, DC microgrids, and electric vehicles at the Joint Smart Grids and Electric Vehicles R&D Center (JSEC) in the College of Engineering. You will also design industry-ready showcase prototypes, develop innovative solutions with high technology readiness, and help in conducting research. Working collaboratively with the JSEC director and other team members, you will explore the integration and optimization of these technologies to shape a bright and sustainable future.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Develops experimental and industry-ready PCB-fabricated prototype solutions involving power electronics, embedded systems, and computer communication.
Applies control, modeling and parameter identification, and embedded systems in developing innovative solutions.
Leverages expertise in modeling and design to construct lab-based and showcase DC microgrids with hierarchical control strategies and their digital twin in simulation.
Prepares research materials, including reports, presentations, and grant proposals.
Researches and develops battery energy storage systems (BESS) management and active balancing techniques also photovoltaic system (PV) modeling electric machines modeling, parameter identification, and control.
Performs logistical tasks related to the management of the labs.
Helps with research activities in the fields of renewable energy systems, DC microgrids, and/or electric vehicles.
Prepares and presents research findings in journal papers and conference presentations.
Assists in developing and conducting training workshops.
Gathers and analyzes data using various techniques, employing strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Assists in empowers junior team members through mentorship and actively contributes to securing research funding by participating in grant writing efforts.
Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to design, prototype, and analyze innovative systems.
Maintains meticulous research records and ensures data accuracy.
Performs all other duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by manager.

Education & Experience

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or equivalent from an accredited institute.
Completed courses in control, power electronics, electric machines, and/or renewable energy systems.
Minimum of (2) two years’ experience in lab equipment and setups for experimental validation, along with experience in research with two to three published journal articles aforementioned topics.

Employee Relations Assistant

Job Purpose / Objective:

Responsible for the processing of activities in the Employee Relations section such as probationary appraisal, leave management, employee benefits, employees attendance, grievances, employee inquiries, payroll and other administrative support

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities :

Handle employees’ probationary process on a monthly basis and send the probationary package to respective department heads.
Ensure that receipts of probationary appraisal are acknowledged by department head or his/her designee and completed with necessary signature to proceed for approval.
Prepare Termination package if the employee did not pass the probationary period.
Review, process and approve various employees’ leave in accordance with the employee entitlement in conjunction with HMG Policy and Procedure and verify guarantor(s) information and ensure authenticity of signature for employees.
Process overtime and compensatory time off request for approval.
Coordinate with Govt. Relations to ensure issuance of exit/re-entry visas for vacationing employee and for any leave cancellation and revision at the earliest possible to refrain from expired exit re-entry visa and fine.
Notify employee for continuous absence after the end of their vacation.
Ensure that vacation, sick leave, absences and overtime are currently updated against the payroll summary.
Prepare correspondence related to area of responsibilities.
Prepare contract amendments for various benefit changes and obtain necessary approval and send it to concerned department for employee’s signature and update the system accordingly.
Comply with the standards laid down by the JCIA/CBAHI and performs duties necessary to support and achieve the accreditation.
Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities.
