Description

Performing ultrasound examination according to departmental protocols. Producing images resulting from the ultrasound examination. Preliminary reporting ultrasound imaging. Communicating with radiologists to approve finishing the exam. Carrying out the training for the other technologists. 

To provide services to patients for whom he / she is responsible to the highest attainable standard of care within the resources of Dallah Hospital by performing a variety of ultrasound procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative, utilizing available equipment as is appropriate, to provide information on the presence of disease processes or other abnormalities, in close coordination with a radiologist.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Setting up and maintaining ultrasound equipments.
  • Perform ultrasound examination on patients.
  • Sending images resulting from ultrasound examination to PACS.
  • Preliminary interpreting ultrasound images and communication with responsible radiologist to approve finishing the exam.
  • Carrying out the training for the other technologists and adding patients concerns before, during and after ultrasound.
  • Soothing and reassuring nervous and anxious patients. 
  • Responsible for ensuring optimum equipment function and the reporting of all malfunctions to the Chief Technician and the Bio-Medical Department or Service Company.
  • Ensure physical safety of all patients.
  • Ensure accurate statistical data is forwarded to the Chief Technician as required.
  • Ensure area is in state of cleanliness and readiness at all times.
  • Responsible for QA testing of equipment on a regular basis.
  • Provide training of ultrasound trainees to the required standards.
  • Performs all duties and functions of an ultrasound technician.
  • Actively participate in the departmental Quality Assurance and In-Service programs.
  • Maintain a correct attitude of professional conduct and conform to all normal ethical relationships.
  • Clean the ultrasound gel from the patient body after exam.
  • Help the patients that are not able to move especially old patients.
  • Follow the rota of the department and the assignment.
  • Stay in the designated rooms whether there is patient or not. 
  • Implements appropriate policies and procedures to achieve the Hospital’s goals and objectives in pursuit of Standards of Care, Quality/ Performance Improvement.
  • Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.
  • Performs any other duties within range of his/her professional knowledge and skills as directed by Chief Radiology Technician and / or Head of Radiology.
